However, sometimes the mistakes are too big to handle alone and sometimes the consequences of our mistakes are overwhelming. That is where I can help.
My name is Bob Hockemeyer, I am a criminal defense attorney serving Chicagoland and the surrounding counties in northern Illinois. I handle cases from the simplest traffic tickets, all the way up to major felonies. DUI’s, however, are the bulk of my practice.
From the start of my career to the present, I have always handled criminal cases on one side or the other. As a prosecutor I handled hundreds of matters and as a defense attorney, I have handled thousands of cases, all with the same goal in mind; WIN THE CASE!
That’s what I offer to you, an aggressive defense. If a hearing or trial is necessary, and that looks like our best way to win, then that is the route we will take. If it looks like negotiations will better suit the situation, then competent, focused negotiations are what you’ll receive.

Background
Bob grew up in the Chicago suburbs, went to high school at Wheaton St. Francis and eventually earned his Bachelor’s of Arts at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Upon graduation, and following his family’s tradition of military service, Robert served six years as a nuclear chemist in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Arkansas and then returned to Illinois to attend the School of Law at Southern Illinois University.
After graduating from law school in 2000, Bob passed the Illinois Bar Exam and began work at the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. Robert moved into private practice in 2002, under the tutelage of some excellent attorneys, and eventually opened his first office in Grayslake, Illinois in 2010. As Bob’s business reputation grew, he found himself doing more and more cases in Cook County and, after collaborating on a few cases, Tracy Callahan and Bob formed Callahan & Hockemeyer, P.C. in 2014 and have not looked back.
Whether Bob is working as a prosecutor in Lake County or representing any of our numerous clients in the Chicagoland area, Bob is known by his colleagues as a reasonable, skilled, competitive litigator, with a keen eye for detail.
